The 18th annual Joan of Arc Parade will roll through the French Quarter on Jan. 6, 2026, marking Joan of Arc’s 614th birthday with its largest procession yet, organizers said. This year’s parade will feature a new route due to construction in the French Quarter. It begins at Bienville and Front streets at 7:30 p.m. The ceremonial blessing of Joan’s sword will take place at St. Mary’s Chapel on Chartres Street instead of St. Louis Cathedral. The toast to royalty will be from the 416 Chartres balcony at the Chef Paul Prudhomme Building. The parade ends at French Market Place and Barracks Street near the New Orleans Jazz Museum.
New signature throws include handmade journals, painted soldiers, a medieval songbook and a saint medallion featuring original artwork by Jackson Square artist Tara Gass-Braden. The piece, titled ‘Courage,’ was selected from the 2024 Joan of Art juried exhibition.
Also new this year is a large puppet named ‘Blessing Joan’, modeled after the “Joanie on the Pony” statue. Operated by krewe members, the puppet’s hands will bless the crowd as it passes.
The walking parade, which began in 2008 with about 50 members, now includes roughly 850 participants.
