Jimmy Buffett’s Escape to Margaritaville is a musical comedy featuring the most-loved Jimmy Buffett classics, including “Cheeseburger in Paradise”, “Margaritaville,” “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere,” “Fins,” “Volcano,” and many more. With a book by Emmy Award winner Greg Garcia (“My Name is Earl,” “Raising Hope”) and Emmy nominee Mike O’Malley (“Survivor’s Remorse,” “Shameless”), this hilarious, heartwarming musical is the party you’ve been waiting for!This is the perfect summer musical, filled with the pursuit of love and dreams, all set to music of the incomparable Jimmy Buffett. Upon first look, this musical has a wild storyline, but at its heart it is fundamentally about the joy of finding out who you are and the people who love you along the way. We know how much our audiences love to sit under the stars and experience escapist musical theater for our outdoor summer productions. We invite audiences to show up in their favorite island attire, enjoy our food trucks or bring a picnic, buy a glass of wine from our own winery and settle into our local “island” vibe.
Jimmy Buffett’s: Escape to Margaritaville has also been given raving reviews from critics. USA Today called it “A little slice of paradise!", and Entertainment Weekly said, "It will knock your flip-flops off!".
The play will run for two weekends, July 19-20, and July 26-27. Showtimes are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. at the Mertes Center for Arts Outdoor Amphitheater. Our summer musicals are presented in our outdoor amphitheater. Limited seating provided. Patrons are encouraged to bring their favorite lawn chair and either picnic or enjoy food and desserts, and wine from our food trucks!
