Join us in our peaceful countryside studio for a relaxed and creative introduction to jigsaw linocut printing.
Jigsaw linocut is a playful technique where one lino block is cut into separate pieces, a little like a jigsaw puzzle. Each piece can be inked in a different colour before being fitted back together and printed, allowing you to create a colourful print in one go.
During the workshop, I’ll guide you through designing your image, safely carving your lino, cutting your block into sections and experimenting with colour. You’ll then ink and print your design by hand, creating your own small edition of original prints to take home.
There’s no pressure to be perfect and no previous experience is needed. It’s simply a lovely opportunity to slow down, try something new and spend a few hours making, chatting and eating cake in our friendly Shropshire studio.
You’ll learn:
- How to turn a simple idea into a bold linocut design
- How to safely use linocut tools
- How to divide and cut your block into jigsaw pieces
- How to ink each section in different colours
- How to reassemble and print your finished design
All tools and materials are provided, along with tea, coffee and cake. Just bring yourself and, if you like, a few simple ideas or images for inspiration.
