Jigsaw Climate Change & Eye Health Walk
About this Event
The charity provides opportunities for members to meet others, build friendships, enjoy social activities, and take part in trips and events that they may not otherwise be able to access.
Jigsaw Events are inviting eye health professionals to join them in walk around the Walsall Aboretum and discussing effect of climate changes on eyes.
The walk will be led by optometrist & Jigsaw co-ordinator Mary Bairstow, accompanied by Jigsaw Events members.
It is a great opportunity to learn together in a lovely outdoor setting.
Jigsaw’s climate change walks use local parks and green spaces to help members with learning disabilities enjoy exercise, socialise, and learn in an accessible way about nature, the environment and how climate change affects our communities.
Please join us for this charity climate change walk, supporting Jigsaw while also taking time to reflect on the impact of climate change on eye health and optometric practice.
The walk will explore issues such as heatwaves, air quality, pollution and anterior eye symptoms, as well as the role optometrists and other eye care professionals can play in reducing their own carbon footprint.
This is a valuable opportunity to support a local charity, promote community inclusion, enjoy time outdoors, and consider how environmental change affects the patients we care for. The discussion should also provide enough relevant learning and reflection for attendees to record one hour of self-directed CPD, where appropriate.
