This is part of the interfaith series, Reading Scripture Together with Dr Jayme Reaves and Rabbi Shoshana Boyd-Gelfand
We will dive into the story of Joseph, the younger brother, dreamer, interpreter, advisor, sage, and eventual ruler in the Egyptian court. Who was Joseph and why was he favoured? How do we make sense of this character, his larger family dynamics, and the lessons we are to learn from his story regarding our own faith and families? What role does Joseph play in the overarching narrative of the Book of Genesis and later New Testament stories about brotherhood and fraternity? And what is the significance of the recurring biblical theme of being a stranger in a strange land?
This is the second instalment of a two-part series exploring the theme of biblical Jews in foreign royal courts. However, this session also stands alone, so feel free to join us even if you did not come to the September session on Esther.
Where is it happening?
