Hello Adventurers,This adventure takes you through a veritable obstacle course of gigantic boulders and the variety of shapes is amazing, from smooth and rounded to angular or shattered. Some of the animals that are seen out there are lizards, cotton tail rabbits, and red tail hawks, soaring above. Hikers will be able to view beautiful vistas on the way up and once on top, the famous Potato Chip Rock and a near 360 degree view of San Diego County!
There is a $10.00 parking fee in the Lake Poway recreation area. We will be meeting in front of the Lake Poway store by the mt. lion statues.
The Hike:
Distance: About 7.5 miles
Hiking time: 5 hours with breaks
Difficulty: Strenuous (be sure to train a little)
Be sure to bring:
AT LEAST 2 LITERS OF WATER (be sure to bring lots of water)
Hiking or athletic shoes
Hat and sunglasses
Snacks
A light jacket (the peak can have a strong, cool breeze)

Directions:
Exit Interstate 15 at Rancho Bernardo Road and go east. Rancho Bernardo Road becomes Espola Road as you enter the Poway city limits. Espola starts to curve south after about 3 miles. Drive a total of 4 miles from I-15 to reach Lake Poway Road. Turn left (east) there and drive 0.5 miles into the Lake Poway Recreation Area (if you are arriving from the south via Espola Road, Lake Poway Road is 2.7 miles north of Poway Road).
