Hello Hikers!
You do not need to own a dog to join this hike—just enjoy being around dogs and watching them have fun!
As of June 16, dogs at Dog Beach in Del Mar are required to be on leash. Since many dogs love the freedom to run, play, and splash in the waves, we're heading to a location where they can do exactly that while enjoying the company of other dogs.
We'll begin with a scenic hike along a beautiful, mostly flat trail featuring wildflowers, osprey sightings, and even an active osprey nest with chicks. The trail leads us to Dog Beach, where the dogs can enjoy some time playing in the sand and surf before we head back.
Important for Dog Owners
If you're bringing a dog, please make sure your dog:
Can comfortably complete a 4.5-mile hike at a walking pace
Is friendly and comfortable around groups of people
Gets along well with other dogs

Difficulty: Easy to Moderate
Distance: 4.5 miles
Duration: Approximately 3 hours (including beach time for the dogs)
Please Bring
1 LITER OF WATER for yourself
1 LITER OF WATER for your dog
Athletic or hiking shoes
Hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen
Snacks for yourself
Treats or snacks for your dog
Light jacket or extra layer
