Hello Hikers,First of all, the Jewish Hiking Group is a peer engagement group for Jewish adults in their 20s and 30s in San Diego County.
A beautiful journey through San Diego County's oak tree forest is how one can best describe the Blue Sky Ecological Reserve. The trails are filled with birds singing their songs, wrestling squirrels, leaping deer, and leaves blowing in the wind. For this adventure, we will start on the Blue Sky Ecological Reserve trail and then we'll take a right turn onto the Lake Poway trail. I will take you around the half of the lake on the fisherman's trail, just feet off the water level! We will have our snack on the grass at Lake Poway recreation area and then continue our loop. The last time that I was there, I saw a mother deer and her baby, squirrels wrestling, fish jumping, and birds playing in the trees.
The Hike:
Difficulty: Moderately Strenuous
Distance: 6 miles
Time: 3.5 hours (with breaks/snacks)
Be Sure to Bring:
2 LITERS OF WATER
Athletic shoes or hiking boots
Light jacket
Snack
Directions:
Exit Interstate 15 at Rancho Bernardo Road and go east. Rancho Bernardo Road becomes Espola Road as you enter the Poway city limits. Espola curves south after about 3 miles. The Blue Sky Ecological Reserve entrance is on the Left just after the curve, 3.4 miles from I-15.
