Jesus Was Not a Doorman
About this Event
Jesus Was Not a Doorman is a 60 minute autobiographical one man show written and performed by Fr. Christian Anderson, an Episcopal priest, speaker, and former Hollywood actor. Written during his own discernment for ordained ministry while working on sitcoms and soap operas in Los Angeles and spending his nights as a doorman at one of Hollywood's most exclusive nightclubs, the show follows his search for God's call in the midst of two seemingly opposite worlds.
Told through 27 unforgettable characters, it is a funny, honest, and deeply moving exploration of vocation, grace, and the question that confronts every Christian: How do we faithfully discern God's call while fully engaged in the world around us? More than a personal story, Jesus Was Not a Doorman invites audiences to reflect on their own journey, reminding us that God often does God's deepest work through the ordinary, unexpected, and sometimes unlikely chapters of our lives. www.JesusWasNotADoorman.com
The Rev. Christian Anderson serves as Vicar of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Stuart, Florida. A graduate of Virginia Theological Seminary, he is committed to forming disciples through thoughtful preaching, pastoral presence, and community engagement. Prior to ordination, Christian worked as a professional actor in Los Angeles while discerning a call to the priesthood, an experience that inspired his autobiographical one man show, Jesus Was Not a Doorman. His ministry explores the intersection of theology, culture, and vocation, asking how Christians can faithfully follow Christ while remaining deeply engaged with the world around them. Christian speaks nationally on leadership, mindfulness, and discipleship, and lives in Florida with his wife, Anastasia, and their two sons.
