About our Performers...
Jessica Owen
Jessica Owen is a compelling songwriter with an unmistakable ability to draw you into her explorations of life and the human experience. Whether it’s an infectious groove or a heartbreaking confessional, Jessica’s lovely voice, unforgettable melodies, and powerful guitar playing always deliver with style and honesty. Here’s what some of the critics have to say: “She mines the same fertile fields as Jewel and Ani DiFranco . . . and her voice is beautiful.” John Porter, Performing Songwriter Magazine. “Wonderfully inventive lyrics and marvelous sense of melody.” Marilyn Rea Beyer, Music Director WUMB, Boston’s Premier Folk Station. Jessica, originally from Edmonton, AB, Canada, has enjoyed a professional music career since 1994, during which time she has released 5 albums, toured across Canada and the United States, and had her music featured in film and television.
Paul Byrne
Guitarist Paul Byrne began playing guitar at age 9 when his sister brought a nylon stringed folk guitar home from college. While growing up in Montclair, NJ, he listened to and began absorbing the popular music of the day. He learned songs by the Bealtles, the Allman Brothers, Cream and Hendrix by ear, patiently transcribing music from a turntable. As a teen he began studying guitar formally with Bob Wilson. Bob recommended two albums which had a lasting impact on Paul's taste and direction: Portraits of Duke Ellington by Joe Pass and Concierto by Jim Hall. Paul began studying jazz guitar with Bob and continued studying while pursuing a BA in classical guitar performance. While in school, he began working with Max & Ira Stone. Paul currently performs throughout the Northeast and has performed hundreds of shows over the years.
