About this Event
A longtime reader at the Hot L Poets Series that meets at Bird in Hand and The Ivy Bookshop, Jennifer Keith celebrates her debut full-length poetry collection. The title, TERMINARCH, a neologism that evokes both terminus and matriarch, signals a collection that confronts endings and what survives-personal, cultural, and ecological.
David Beaudouin's ON DOWN THE LINE approaches a poetic career from a reflective standpoint, featuring poems from the 1970's-1990's in a retrospective compendium.
We think this is a perfect pairing and hope you'll join us to celebrate books at all points on the timeline.

Copies of ON DOWN THE LINE will be available for sale at the event.
Jennifer Keith’s poems have appeared in The Nebraska Review, Sewanee Theological Review, The Free State Review, Unsplendid, Smartish Pace, Best American Poetry 2015 and elsewhere. Keith was a finalist for the 2021 Erskine J. Poetry Prize from Smartish Pace and her first full-length poetry book, Terminarch, was selected by David Yezzi for the 2023 Able Muse Book Award.
Baltimorean David Beaudouin is a widely published poet, educator, and editor. He was the founder of Tropos Press (1976-2001), one of the region’s earliest independent literary presses, as well as the literary magazine THE PEARL (1980-2001). He is the author of seven books of poetry, most recently Afters (Bowerbox Press, 2024) and On Down the Line (UnCollected Press, 2026), which features a 30-year selection of his work. David’s poem “Annunciation” was selected for inclusion in The Best American Poetry 2025. His Substack newsletter, NY Poets :: IOU, has featured conversations with poets Elinor Nauen, Michael Lally, Maureen Owen, and Tony Towle, among others.
The poet Terence Winch has called On Down the Line, “shrewd, sharp, unpretentious, and full of life—exactly what one would expect from Baltimore’s foremost spirit rep.”
