Jennifer Ingala Artist Pop-Up @ Macy's Rookwood
About this Event
Encaustic painting is an ancient art form that dates back to ancient Egypt and this was used to paint the mummies faces. The medium is made of beeswax and damar resin which comes from a tree in Southeast Asia. I try to be as hollistic as possible during my process and I make from raw materials as much as I can. I cook the medium on my stove and make all of my own pigments. Each piece has 20-25 layers each fused together with a torch. I then carve my images into the wax. These are mounted on 8”x8” cradled wood panel and ready to hang on the wall or sit on a shelf.
