With his newly-won Songwriter of the Year and Best Live Performance awards from the 2025 Michigan Music Awards, and nominated for eight Detroit Music Awards (Outstanding Song, Outstanding Vocalist, Outstanding Album Recordings), Jeff Scott’s music has been heralded as “stunning” by the Detroit Free Press, and “consistently beautiful” by the Metro Times. Since 2011, Jeff has released three full-length album projects: Begin Again, The Long Way Home and Nola to New York, along with a variety of singles, most recently “Maybe Love’s Enough” (July 2024), “As Long as I’m Near You” (April 2024) and “I’m Alright with This World” (December 2023). In addition, Jeff released a series of standalone videos of new music during the pandemic, taking advantage of remote recording and producing in order to continue to release music. One of these music videos, “Some Better Days,” featured a collaboration of singers and musicians from across the country, was featured on multiple local media outlets, and garnered an Outstanding Americana Song nomination from the Detroit Music Awards. It was simultaneously released as a single on all platforms.
Jeff’s love of playing music started at age 8, leading to formation of a successful high school band. Following college, Jeff won a “Best Singer” contest sponsored by a local radio station which subsequently issued and placed into heavy rotation his first single, “Show A Little Faith,” which he wrote. Publicity from the single led to his appearance on “Star Search” (the “Voice” of that era), and the release of his first self-produced album, “This Feeling.” Shortly after, Jeff co-founded The Big Picture with Duane Allen Harlick, a high-energy pop soul group. The peak of their success occurred when they won the national Marlboro Music Talent Roundup, releasing a self-titled CD produced by Andre Fisher (Chaka Khan, Natalie Cole) and touring regionally, opening for Hall & Oates, Richard Marx, Smokey Robinson and more.
Following his departure from The Big Picture, Jeff focused on a business career and family, only to end his 17-year hiatus when he produced and released Begin Again in 2010 and reunited with Duane Allen Harlick to begin to perform that original music in venues across the state. Since that time, Jeff has performed at major area festivals and theaters, and has been a sell-out draw in various listening rooms. In addition, he has been featured in HOUR Detroit magazine, the Detroit Free Press and the Metro Times, among other publications, and has been interviewed by and performed multiple times on most area television stations.
Following on the successes of his most recent three singles, Jeff will be releasing more music through 2025 and performing at select venues and events.
