The Hughes/Smith Quintet is a modern hard-bop jazz group based out of Detroit, Michigan. Co-led by saxophonist James Hughes and trumpeter Jimmy Smith, the band features original compositions inspired by Detroit's rich jazz legacy and the classic 1970s Blue Note era.
