Jazz Stan - 'Postcards': Private View at INNSiDE
About this Event
Created during periods of lockdown and the isolation of new motherhood, this new body of work by Liverpool artist Jazz Stan emerged from a desire to mentally transport beyond the confines of everyday life.
Through painting, Jazz explores how we connect with places both real and imagined, drawing on sensory experiences, memories, and cultural references to create vivid emotional landscapes.
The works ask: can we truly experience a place without physically being there? How do colours, textures, sounds, food, and stories shape our perception of somewhere we long to visit-or return to?
For locations she had never visited, Jazz immersed herself in travel photography, local music, regional cuisine, and soundscapes shared by friends and media sources. The resulting paintings seek to capture those fleeting moments when a song, scent, or memory suddenly transports you elsewhere; when warmth, atmosphere, and emotion become tangible despite the distance.
Alongside her studio practice, Jazz is an accomplished mural artist whose large-scale public artworks can be found throughout the UK, and the world. She has delivered commissions for brands including Porsche, Red Bull, Waterstones and Estrella Damm, creating bespoke artworks that transform public, commercial and community spaces.
The exhibition invites visitors to reflect on their own memories, associations, and imagined destinations, celebrating the remarkable ability of art to transport us beyond physical boundaries.
