ABOUT THE JAZZ POETS OF SAN ANTONIO
Eduardo C. Garza began blending music with his poetry in 1977 and later founded the Jazz Poets Society in October 2006 in San Antonio. Since then, the group has been “cooking up the word with music,” creating a dynamic fusion of spoken word and sound.
Garza plays drums alongside a talented ensemble: Captain Crush on bass, Sarah the Magnificent on flute and percussion, Rick Skinner on guitar, Vincent Garza on saxophone, and Cristina Caballero on trumpet and vocals. Also known as the Jazz Poetry Band and Los Chromies, the group has welcomed more than 50 different musicians to perform with them over the past 17 years. They continue to invite people of all ages to share their voices and creativity at the mic.
