Pack a picnic blanket and join us for a relaxed, family-friendly afternoon in the heart of Hyde Park, filled with the swinging sounds of live jazz! From big bands to intimate ensembles, traditional to eclectic, this free alcohol-free event is the perfect way to spend a musically inspired Saturday.
🥟 Hungry? Bring your own picnic or explore the food trucks — from dumplings to ice-cream, there’s something for everyone.
🎺 Be part of the music!
Players of all ages and abilities are invited to bring their (portable) instruments and gather at the stage at 1:15pm for the Jazz Parade. March with a New Orleans-style brass band around the lush parklands — or simply follow the beat, clap along, and add your energy to the celebration.
🎶 After the parade, settle back on your blankets and enjoy the sounds of tomorrow’s musos with performances from the WAAPA Jazz Vocal Ensemble and the WAAPA Zwartz Ensemble.
💃 To close, De Cuba Son will bring irresistible salsa and Latin jazz grooves to the stage — perfect for dancing and ending the afternoon on a high note.
