About this Event
Bill McKemy is a Kansas City upright bassist, bandleader, and composer whose playing anchors some of the city's most respected groups. His resume reads like a who's-who of the contemporary jazz scene: he has performed or recorded with Grammy winners and nominees including *Randy Brecker, Karrin Allyson, Maceo Parker, and John Abercrombie*, along with Benny Green, Gregory Hutchinson, and many others.
Bill has released three solo albums to critical acclaim — Duende was named to the Kansas City Star's Top Ten of 2002, Om Nidrah won Pitch Weekly's Best Local Jazz CD of 2003, and his work has been featured on NPR's All Songs Considered. He grew up on a farm outside Kansas City, spent formative years in the Philadelphia scene, and returned to KC in 1997. Today he leads multiple projects including work with the Shay Estes & Mark Lowrey Quartet and Mark Southerland's Snuff Jazz.
Jazz @ Noon is the Blue Room's free lunchtime concert series — an hour of live music in one of Kansas City's most storied rooms. Step away from the workday and into 18th & Vine. Free admission.
