Over the Cheltenham Jazz Festival bank holiday weekend, join us for our first ever jazz jam, featuring saxophonist Simon Spillett and an incredible house band.

Tenor saxophonist and bandleader Simon Spillett is one of the most prominent figures on the UK jazz scene: a charismatic instrumentalist with a powerful, straight-ahead style, with multiple awards to his name including BBC Rising Star, Jazz Journal's Album of the Year, Top Tenor Sax at the British Jazz Awards, and Services to British Jazz.
Simon will be joining us for our first ever jam session, featuring a superb house band of Eddie Gripper (piano), Nick Kacal (bass), and Patrick Barrett-Donlon (drums).
Simon and the house band will kick off the evening with a set at 7:30pm, before opening the jam session for the rest of the night.
Instrumentalists and vocalists (and listeners!) of all abilities are welcome for this friendly, relaxed evening. Let us know on the door if you plan to take part in the jam, or email in advance ([email protected]).
Whether you plan to take part in the session or just soak up the atmosphere, this will be a brilliant way to round off your jazz festival weekend into the bank holiday with some of the top players on the scene.
Steamin' Jazz Club at the Steam and Whistle
Steamin’ is Cheltenham’s newest jazz club, hosted by a collaboration of experienced musicians from across a range of jazz. It aims to offer monthly gigs, taking place at The Steam and Whistle, near Cheltenham Spa railway station.
