Mercury Prize nominee and former BBC New Generation Artist Laura Jurd brings her extraordinary new project to the stage. Known for her singular, expressive trumpet playing, Jurd seamlessly bridges classical composition and traditional folk music to create vibrant, story-driven soundscapes.
Mercury-nominated Laura Jurd's unique approach to the trumpet is celebrated in the work that she creates. A past BBC New Generation Artist, Laura's love of folk traditions can often be heard in her music, alongside her background in classical composition. The result is a melodic world full of compelling twists and turns, whilst retaining a grounded sense of familiarity.
After a spell-binding show at Drygate for Celtic Connections, Laura returns to Glasgow to play music from her critically acclaimed 2025 release "Rites & Revelations" as well as presenting some brand new material. Folk-tinged trumpet music, unafraid to rock-out - delivered with a jazz ethos at its heart.

About Laura Jurd
Composer-performer Laura Jurd's unique voice as an improvising trumpet player is at the heart of everything she creates. Her music celebrates and innovates the rich traditions of jazz and folk music, digging into something primal and earthy, whilst taking twists and turns that prove Laura to be one of the UK's most distinctive composer-performers in contemporary music.
As a composer she has collaborated with the London Sinfonietta, the Festival of New Trumpet Music, the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and the Ligeti Quartet to name a few. She has performed throughout the UK, Europe and beyond with Mercury-nominated band Dinosaur and under-her own name, having played the likes of North Sea, Montréal and Molde International Jazz festivals to name a few.
