JAZZ & THE GOSPEL is an educational and inspiring experience that uses music, storytelling, poetry, and visuals to honor the legacy of African American spirituals, blues, jazz, and gospel.
Through three movements—Black Music as Life, Communal/Unifying, and Somebodiness/Worth—we explore how Black music has shaped and reflected Black life, joy, and resilience. This is the first, event in a series of three, that will share the untold stories of African American history, highlight local Black artists, and the profound connection between black music, black life, and spirituality.
