Jazz Afternoon Tea with the Maddie Martin Quartet
We are delighted to invite you to Jazz Afternoon Tea with the Maddie Martin Quartet to celebrate our tenth anniversary.
Vocalist Maddie Martin met pianist Columbus Sandor, bassist Guy Dempsey and drummer George Prentice-Povey while studying at The Royal Academy of Music, graduating together in July 2025. Their time performing and developing together shaped a quartet that blends Maddie’s dynamic voice - rooted in tradition yet shaped by a fresh, contemporary perspective - with Guy’s “unwavering crotchet beat” (UK Jazz News), George’s classic drumming sound, and Columbus’s expressive, lyrical playing.
Together, they create playful, soulful and original performances, blending jazz standards, selections from the Great American Songbook, and influences of soul.
Following their debut at the Swanage Jazz Festival in 2025, the group has continued to build a growing reputation, performing at some of the UK’s most respected jazz venues, including Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, The 606 Club, and The Verdict Jazz Club.
An uplifting afternoon featuring live music from this talented jazz quartet, alongside a traditional afternoon tea served in the welcoming surroundings of Christ Church, Tunbridge Wells.
Whether you come with friends, family, or as a special treat for yourself, this promises to be a relaxed and enjoyable event for all ages.
