Were you so scared of the water after this was released that you couldn't go to the lake? Even if you live in Kansas... "Jaws," directed by Steven Spielberg, was such an impressive achievement and benchmark in cinematic history. This was a massive box office hit. Audiences came out in droves for this picture. People would line up on the street outside of theaters to get a chance to see this film. It's widely regarded as the first blockbuster; perfect summer, popcorn fun on the big screen.
Not only did it scare audiences with how little they see of the shark, but it's also a fantastic family story, thanks to Spielberg and his irreplacable cast of Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw, and Richard Dreyfuss. Spielberg's a master of storytelling, terrifying audiences. Simple walk-and-talk scenes have been studied in film schools around the globe.
