Javelina Hike and Refuel

Hiking Javelina Trail at South Mountain & Postino's Happy Hour
Like all of my events, this is for ppl who identify as women or nonbinary only.
We will start out as a group at the trail head (it is on the west side of the parking lot, so on your right if you are facing the mountain. The parking lot is very small and there are only 2 trail heads so even if you are in the wrong spot you should see the group if you look across the parking lot ) We'll hike up for awhile and then turn around so we can stay ahead of the setting sun. (Please feel free to bring headlamps/charged phones with flashlights if you don't mind being out as the sun has set.) Javelina is a 3.6 mile out and back but there is no need to cover the entire distance, each hiker can turn around wherever they want. It's described as moderately challenging (it's got some climb to it but doesn't have the incline of some of the steeper peaks in Phoenix.) All paces and bodies are welcome on these hikes so we will usually split off into different groups based on pace and I always stay with the last group so no one is ever alone (unless they choose to be.)
After the hike some members will regroup at Postino's on Rural Rd in South Tempe for food or drinks since the different pace groups make it difficult to chat with everyone in our hiking crew 😊 Postino's is kind enough to give us a free drink for the first 20 hikers 💜
