About Jason Boland & The Stragglers:
Born and raised in Oklahoma, Boland grew up listening to a mix of country and rock and roll before eventually finding himself at the epicenter of the Red Dirt scene in Stillwater, where he put together the Stragglers while attending OSU. Beginning with 1999’s Pearl Snaps, the hard-touring band would release a series of critically acclaimed independent albums that would rack up more than half a million sales, lead to collaborations with the likes of Shooter Jennings and Robert Earl Keen, and land performances everywhere from The Ryman Auditorium to the Grand Ole Opry. The New York Times called Boland “one of the country scene’s most multidimensional songwriters,” while American Songwriter praised him as “a troubadour for the ages,” and Rolling Stone hailed him as a “steady, reliable source of smart, gritty songwriting.”
About Jeremy Pinnell:
When Jeremy Pinnell released OH/KY in 2014, his debut immediately differentiated itself as an authentic and unflinching missive from his river town where the Midwest meets the South. Jeremy’s songs are startlingly candid stories of bruised folks looking for a little grace. His 2017 album, Ties of Blood and Affection finds Pinnell taking comfort in family, faith, and responsibility, as the singer achieves the redemption only hinted at in his previous batch of haunted songs. His third album, 2021’s Goodbye LA, expands Pinnell’s homegrown sound with timeless country elements: pedal steel, Telecaster twang, and gospel organ wrap themselves around JP’s oaken identity, the devastating centerpiece of his work. Careworn but hopeful, Jeremy’s voice can touch on wry, jubilant, and debauched— often in a single line. In support of Goodbye LA, Kentucky’s wandering son found himself in all sorts of rooms. In 2023, he won Ameripolitan’s Honky Tonk Male Award in Memphis and signed with Space Colonel Management. In that same year, he released the Live AF EP and videos and was chosen to headline an electrifying showcase for esteemed label Western AF. In 2024, Jeremy signed with Warner Chappell Music Publishing and has continued to tour the country. Over three albums and a clutch of EPs, JP has solidified his role as a master songwriter of depth and clarity. At his best, Pinnell chronicles the joy and sorrow of being human, which is the best that anyone could do.
"Kentuckian Jeremy Pinnell hits all the country-tune sweet spots. His voice is strong and a little mournful -- you can feel his ache seep through the speakers as you listen -- and the rhythm section shuffles along gently. Weepy pedal steel licks feel just right as Pinnell sings a regretful refrain of ‘I did it again,’ a familiar sentiment for any of us who've ever done a little backsliding.”
