BRYAC Black Rock | Fairfield, CT
Bringin’ back ol’ reliable Suman Mitra on the kit from Cliffside Push, and I’m especially excited to welcome to the stage, for his first-ever JSB performance, Aden Even-Ezra.
The Prawn Star community may know Aden as our beloved merch (and many-hat-wearing) sole crew member for Big Shrimp… but you might not know he’s also a RIPPER of a bassist! We got a little sneak peek the other night in Indiana when he sat in with Shrimp for “Duck Walk” on the tour closer — and now I can’t wait to tear it up with him for two full sets.
FREE show. 9PM! 🎶🔥
Jared Sage Band is the ever-evolving project led by guitarist and songwriter Jared Sage Cowen, best known as the frontman and lead guitarist for nationally touring progressive rock acts Big Shrimp (2024–present) and Baked Shrimp (2017–2024).
A prodigious talent who picked up the guitar at just four years old, Cowen is now in his mid-20s and has already written over 200 original songs. Following the breakup of Baked Shrimp in 2024, Cowen hit the road solo, making a standout appearance as Artist-at-Large at Ohio DreamFest, where he sat in with acts including Ekoostik Hookah, Dizgo, Stop Light Observations, and more.
If there's one phrase to describe Jared Sage Band, it’s “Artist-at-Large.” Cowen is the only permanent member, building each show around a rotating cast of all-star musicians, often local to the city he’s performing in. On tour, he introduced the inventive “alt-band name” concept, billing each show as Jared Sage Band Presents: [Custom Band Name] — sometimes with full concepts, like The Outies performing the Severance theme. This dynamic format ensures that no two performances are the same, with each lineup bringing a fresh take to Cowen’s catalog, including fan favorites like “Bird,” “Chop Suey,” and “Beacon River.”
“I’ve had gigs where I hadn’t even met the players before stepping on stage,” Cowen says. “You instantly have to become best friends musically. That kind of pressure breeds amazing moments.”
In Spring 2025, Cowen released his latest album, Vexatiously Gracious, and followed it up with a tour through Charleston, Asheville, Louisville, Cincinnati, and another Artist-at-Large slot at Germination Festival in Maine.
Jared Sage Band has featured members of Dogs in a Pile, Stop Light Observations, Isaac Hadden Organ Trio, Aqueous, Big Shrimp, and many others. Cowen plans to take the project on the road annually, while continuing to perform regularly throughout the Northeast, with new live releases and a studio album set for late 2025.
