About this Event
Explore the neighborhood through a fresh lens—learning fun facts, uncovering hidden gems, and discovering the people, places, and community organizations that keep San Francisco Japantown vibrant.
Along the way, we'll visit the Japan Center East and West Malls, Osaka Way, the merchant corridors along Post, Laguna, and Sutter streets while hearing stories about local businesses, cultural landmarks, seasonal events, and community life. At the Japantown Cultural District Visitor Center where the tour begins and ends, receive recommendations for shopping, dining, and experiences to enjoy during your day in Japantown.
General Admission: $30 + fees. For all guests 18 years and older.
Community Rate: $15 + fees. For San Francisco residents, students 10 years and older, seniors 65 years and older, and Japantown Task Force/Japantown Cultural District newsletter subscribers. We ask guests to select this ticket using an honor system as part of our mission to make Japantown's history and culture accessible.
Children under 10 years old: FREE, however, please RSVP.
Group Rate: We offer discounted group rates for qualifying bookings (e.g. large groups, schools, organizations). Please contact us before purchasing tickets to discuss your group size and available pricing. Email: [email protected]
Gratuity is optional and will be directed to Visitor Center operations.
Tour Length: 1 hour.
Meeting Place: Japantown Cultural District Visitor Center, Japan Center EAST Mall, 2F. The tour will begin and conclude here.
Accessibility: Uneven cobblestones along Osaka Way can be challenging for individuals with walking aids. The route is mostly flat with slight hills. There is elevator access to the Visitor Center, located on the second floor of the Japan Center East Mall. Let us know if you or a member of your party require accomodations.
