Hot springs are a gift from the Earth
Explore Japanese “Onsen“ hot spring culture and nature while learning and experiencing with natural dyeing.
In Japan, people casually enjoy hand baths / foot baths to relax.
you will use “Yu-no-hana”, the hot spring mineral powder made using a traditional method unique to Myoban Hot Spring in Oita, Japan — the only one of its kind in the world.
Natural colors are also gifts from the Earth!
Learn traditional Japanese natural dyeing and shibori tie-dye techniques, and discover how hot spring’s minerals help colors fixation.
Fabric to dye
1. Some small test-dye fabrics
2. Furoshiki cotton scarf (long 140x30cm or square 70x70cm) or Linen table cloth 50cm/30cm

Workshop by Yurika Saito
Yurika explored nature and culture across Japan and around the world. Since 2022, she has been practicing natural dyeing in Berlin using waste materials—such as spent tea leaves and onion skins from a restaurant—through her “Living Dyeing Project,” and offering hands-on workshop experiences.
