Japanese Chigiri-e

Chigiri-e is a centuries old Japanese art form where paper is torn, not cut, and layered into a picture. Those soft, feathered edges are the whole point. They catch the light like watercolour and give every piece a texture you simply cannot fake with a blade.

In this session you will learn how to read the grain of washi paper, tear with intention, build depth through layering, and compose your own artwork from scratch. Mountains, koi, cherry blossoms, or something entirely your own. Our host walks you through every step, so zero art experience needed.

It is slow, quiet, oddly meditative work. Two hours where your phone stays in your bag and your hands do the thinking.

All materials included. You take your finished piece home, ready to frame.

Come alone and leave with new people to tear paper with. That is rather the idea.
