Japanese Calligraphy Workshop – Wind Chimes & Watermelon with Pudding's
About this Event
Learn Japanese calligraphy and draw Fūrin (Japanese wind chimes) and Suika (watermelon) — two of Japan's most beloved seasonal symbols, while enjoying a special dessert set and drink provided by Pudding's in this summer. 🎐🍉
For hundreds of years, the gentle sound of wind chimes and the refreshing taste of watermelon have been part of everyday summer life in Japan. You'll often find wind chimes hanging outside homes, temples and cafés during summer, their soft sound drifting through the summer breeze creates a feeling of coolness, even on the hottest days. And watermelon is Japan's favourite summer fruit, they play Suikawari—the traditional summertime game of trying to split a watermelon while blindfolded. Together, they remind people to slow down, enjoy the season, and appreciate the simple moments that make summer special.
In this special workshop, you'll discover the cultural meaning behind wind chime and watermelon while creating your own wind chime and watermelon themed Japanese calligraphy artwork using traditional brushes and ink and enjoy a special dessert set and drink provided by Pudding's after the workshop.
Whether you are a complete beginner or have previous experience with calligraphy, this workshop is designed to be relaxing, creative, and enjoyable for everyone.
