We find ourselves at the beginning of a brand new year to celebrate. This will be the January Thing (Norse Pagan Ritual Fire) for Skjaldborg, the Shieldwall of Summerville, and friends.
* There will be a potluck, so it is customary to bring some mead for the fire and food for the table.
* There will be combat practice for those who would like, so if you are fighting, please dress appropriately.
* All ages are welcome to attend, but there will be drinking and adult language, so your mileage may vary, and you are responsible for watching and caring for your own children.
* All guests are welcome save for a few specific people. If you don't know and have to ask, feel free to check!
* All attendees are on their own honor to follow the 4 rules and to maintain frith and grith.
* Our 4 rules (we jokingly call them our terms and conditions)- every member of the fire will have to swear to uphold these 4 rules:
1. No untruths may be spoken at the fire.
2. All oaths are spiritually binding during the fire.
3. You may call for the judgment of the fire, but if you do, everyone agrees that the judgment of the fire is final, with no retests.
4. No gods, goddesses, or deities are to be called to, invited, invoked, or in any way worked with save for the Aesir and the Vanir, or any of the other members of what is now considered the Norse pantheon.
