The Boys in the Boat—A Daughter
Remembers
In 1936 the University of Washington Rowing Team won Olympic
Gold. Racing against German, Italian and British teams, the Husk-
ies beat them all with only 1 second separating the top 3 finish-
ers. The UW crew became known as The Boys in the Boat. Judy
Rantz Willman will share stories with us about her father’s great
adventure on Friday, January 17th at 12 noon.
Please join us to hear this riveting story.
Judy's presentation will include an explanation of the genesis of "The Boys in the Boat", a reading from the book, background on the other boys, a short commentary about the 2023 movie, the video clip of the Olympic final race from Leni Riefenstahl’s movie, several stories about her dad and her family, and a contemplation on why the book is having such an intense effect on readers.
