Donna creates with pastels because they present a full spectrum of hues, values of lights and darks, as well as the ability to utilize a variety of textures and strokes with which to create interesting paintings. Donna has used pastel techniques to create paintings of diverse subjects: landscapes, animals, birds, and portraits. Her pastels have been in juried shows in Michigan, Indiana, and Texas. She enjoys creating paintings and teaching pastel techniques to artists.
Professional Art Associations and Shows
Donna is a past member of the McKinney Art Club, The Pastel Society of the Southwest, The Visual Arts Guild of Frisco She was also actively involved in Art Reach as a committee member. Donna was voted the 2021-22 Vice President of Richardson’ Civic Art Society.
Created, 2020-21, Texas Bluebonnets Arts and Crafts Group was a virtual group with varied art projects. Donna has been a panel member for “Women in Arts” twice and is involved in “Spotlight” a virtual show showcasing individual artists and their creative art process showing some of their finished works.
Spring of 2016, Donna was the director and gallerist of the Art Gallery at fILTER(ed), a coffee café in McKinney, Texas. She recruited new artists for membership and guest memberships, screened prospective artists’ works and does daily maintenance of the gallery logistics and data. AGF was showcased RCAS monthly art winners in the gallery.
Art in the Atrium, Frisco, Texas’s twice yearly juried show. Donna’s pastel paintings were juried in 6 shows, 2017-20.
