January Legal Summer Camp

A work from home day, except ‘home’ is your cozy spot at the Center for Performing Arts, Minneapolis. Participants may use the full day for personal work if desired. Scheduled events are optional. Enjoy complimentary coffee, tea, snacks, and consults with some of your favorite business partners in legal tech. Two CLEs are included. Use this time to advance a project you may have been putting off. Spend as little or as much time as you'd like. Play an instrument? Bring it! Day concludes with a jam session.

Info: ...Making All the Patents, and How that Affects "Creativity" and "Originality" AI like LLMs are radically transforming "creativity" across copyright, patents, and other intellectual endeavors. Damien Riehl — lawyer, musician, technologist — copyrighted 471 billion machine-generated melodies, raising questions of originality and monopoly rights as AIs generate 300K melodies per second. Then his All the Patents project recombines prior patents' claims into "new" inventions, publishing them as prior art, all to block "obvious" patents. Further, AI can expedite "creative" endeavors traversing the latent space of disparate concepts, providing novel insights. This talk will walk through how human-AI collaboration blurs prior legal boundaries of originality, and creativity.
