This is a 4 week Introductory Blues Dance series in January on Monday evenings:
Jan. 6, 13, 20, 27
7:30-9pm
Instructors: Sara Sloan & Candra Marr
$60 for the 4 weeks (cash or e-transfer)
Message me on facebook to register. Please let me know if you need to cancel asap, so I can open up more spots if needed. Due to the small space, I am limiting it to 10 participants maximum.
There will not be a drop in option different days and I ask that everyone be able to attend the first class to continue with subsequent classes.
CONTENT:
In this series, we will be learning about the pulse, posture and feel of the blues aesthetic and getting our basic steps and pulse into our bodies, a brief touch on the history and description of the variety of blues dances that are out there, how to comfortably move with a partner in both a jukin' and ballroomin' style basic, a few blues idiom movements that can be incorporated into your dances, and lots of connection technique built on some simple moves.
The exact level/content will change a bit depending on who ends up signing up, I am still gearing this series toward dancers who are newer to blues (though it does help if you have a bit of partner dance experience of some kind). Please let me know your dance background (if any) when signing up.
Location (PLEASE READ):
I will send people the exact address when registering (in Marpole area of Vancouver). There is lots of street parking in the area and buses.
I do NOT have a buzzer to let people in, so I ask that people please show up promptly by 7:30pm, so someone can run to the door and let people in. Send a message/text me or call me when you arrive and someone will come get you.
