In partnership with Lake Pueblo State Park and the Colorado Lottery, we are bringing back the First Day Hike!Get outdoors and take the first step towards a healthy lifestyle on the first day of the new year! Meet us on the patio of our Riverfront Building at the NWDC River Campus to grab a map for the self-guided hike. We will have FREE meet and greets with our raptor ambassadors from the NWDC Raptor Center, and a hot cocoa table! From our River Campus, you can head out towards Anticline Pond to get your steps in. OR if you'd like, you can go to Anticline Pond FIRST to meet up with folks from Lake Pueblo State Park and the Colorado Lottery, and then come to our River Campus from there.
Route:
This is a 3 mile one-way, or 6 mile out-and-back hike. Participants may either begin/end at the NWDC River Campus, or begin/end at Anticline Pond at Lake Pueblo State Park. The route follows the paved footpath along the Arkansas River, with little elevation change and beautiful views. Refreshments, interactive stations, activities, and a scavenger hunt will be available along the trail in either direction.
*Registration is not required. Feel free to show up on the day of!
*Great news - starting in 2025, parking will be FREE at the NWDC River Campus!
