The fun starts 5pm on Friday February 21 and runs through 3pm on Sunday, February 23rd! Teaching and Jamming staff this year are from Virginia featuring Janie Rothfield (Fiddle, Clawhammer Banjo, Singing), Gina Dilg (Fiddle, Flatfoot and Percussive Dance, Singing), Allan Carr (Guitar) and Miami's own Matthew Sabatella (Clawhammer and Finger Style Banjo and Singing)! Great teachers, small classes, and a whole lot of fun!
The goal of Janie's Jumpstart is not necessarily to teach you all the tunes, but how to play them better and have fun with old time music.
There will be classes primarily for Intermediate to Advanced level musicians-previous knowledge or experience with Old Time music is not required.
Janie does an assessment of all the participants to make sure that everyone in the class is at about the same level. Please contact Janie directly at [email protected] or 518-522-7445 if you'd like more information about the classes and to figure out which class will be best for you!
Friday night starts out with the Teacher house concert and evening of jamming with Janie, Gina, Allan and Matthew.
Saturday features classes starting at 10am and going through 5pm, a student open mic concert and more jamming.
Sunday features classes and jamming til 3pm.
REGISTRATION/TICKETS: There are options to sign up for the FULL WEEKEND (recommended), Friday ONLY, Saturday-Sunday, Saturday ONLY and Sunday ONLY.
Accommodations are NOT included.
Food is NOT included (we will have coffee and tea available).
Saturday is bring your own lunch and POTLUCK DINNERSunday is bring your own lunch. Bring your own "beverages".
When you register, you will sign up for your primary instrumental class-there will be opportunities throughout the weekend for you to take shorter classes for Singing, Percussive Dance, and Bass, as well as additional fiddle, banjo and guitar classes for the multi instrumentalists in the group!
