About this Event
Join us as we kick off the Jane’s Walk 2026 Festival, with a preview of the festival and an exclusive panel discussion featuring Lori Beattie (Author of Calgary’s Best Walks), Jeremy Klaszus (of Sprawl Calgary), and Lauren Wren (@walking_yyc on Instagram) discussing the power of walking and storytelling in our city.
Cost: $10/TICKET, all proceeds go towards the continuation of the Jane’s Walk movement in Calgary.
Panel Bios:
- Lori Beattie, is a Calgary-based author, walking guide, and owner of Fit Frog Adventures, specializing in urban hiking and cycling. As the bestselling author of Calgary’s Best Walks and Calgary’s Best Bike Rides, she curates city routes that connect neighbourhoods, nature, and local businesses. She is known for promoting active living through guided tours, her blog, and her role as a media contributor.
- Jeremy Klaszus, is a Calgary journalist who has been reporting on the city for more than 20 years. He launched in 2017 to help fill the ever-widening gaps in the city's media landscape. Prior to launching The Sprawl, he was a staff writer for Fast Forward Weekly, a columnist for the Calgary Herald and Metro, and a radio reporter for CBC. He is the host of Sprawlcast, Calgary's in-depth municipal podcast, which also airs on CJSW 90.9 FM.
- Lauren Wren, runs the viral @walking_yyc video series Instagram page, walking every neighbourhood of Calgary. Lauren also runs the ‘Wren Bakehouse’ creating artisan breads from Alberta grains.
- Moderator: Adam Schwartz, Jane’s Walk Calgary Coordinator and Federation of Calgary Communities Placemaking Manager.
