Jane Siberry - Artist Bio for Upcoming Tour and New Music Release
Jane Siberry, a highly respected figure in the international music scene with a career spanning over four decades, is starting her upcoming tour on November 5 in Winnipeg and concluding on December 3 in New York City. Known for her ethereal voice, poetic lyrics, and genre-defying sound, Jane has captivated audiences worldwide since the 1980s, delivering an impressive catalog of 15 studio albums and countless live performances.
This tour marks an exciting chapter in Jane's career as she introduces her new album, a project born out of the stillness and introspection of the pandemic. The album is being released one song at a time, beginning in autumn 2024, each track offering reflection on aspects of human endurance in Siberry’s unique voice. With topics ranging from Atlantis to cash bailout to hospital waiting rooms to mice-as-teachers, the recording is an exploration that offers an intriguing perspective.
Jane's live performances are renowned for their emotional depth, humourous and moving storytelling, and the spontaneous magic that happens when she is on stage. Tour audiences can expect an intimate and transformative concert experience, blending classics from her repertoire with new pieces.
Jane Siberry has continually pushed the boundaries of what it means to be an artist, now particularly focused on how musicians can work with peaceful productivity in the changing music industry. This tour, alongside the release of her new music, is a testament to her enduring creative spirit and commitment to making music that matters.
Iconic and enigmatic, Jane Siberry is one of music’s most unique and gifted singer-songwriters. Blessed with a sincere integrity and emotional depth, she has released 14 studio albums, including her well-loved signature song Calling All Angels. Jane’s songs have been covered by numerous artists, including k.d. lang with her stunning renditions of Love is Everything and the 23rd Psalm-inspired The Valley.
She is recognized as a forward-thinking artist, using her creativity both in song and in how she operates in the music business. She was one of the first to set up ‘self-determined transactions’ (pwyw). She continues to explore ways to live healthily as an artist creating an online style-store, webinars, ‘Janetakes’ (feedback for artists) and passive income streams in order to ‘keep the joy up’ and to remain aware that ‘it is a privilege to be a musician’.
Jane is on tour for in her home country Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, and the USA performing with equal enthusiasm at Carnegie Hall and living rooms around the world.
