A native of Long Island, Jane’s early immersion in music—piano, woodwinds, choirs, and community theater—was always centered on jazz. While still a student at the Manhattan School of Music, she placed second in the prestigious Thelonious Monk Competition, launching an extraordinary career that has included collaborations with jazz icons like Tommy Flanagan, Ron Carter, Kenny Barron, Terence Blanchard, John Pizzarelli, and Christian McBride.

Her artistry has been featured on television shows from Letterman to CBS Sunday Morning, and on soundtracks such as Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow and Never Let Me Go. Whether interpreting timeless standards or breathing new life into contemporary classics, Monheit’s performances are marked by stunning vocal control, emotional depth, and a radiant stage presence.
