Srdečně zveme na vernisáž výstavy Jana Rouska V AFRICE NA STESCÍCH ZVĚŘE*, která se uskuteční 10. září od 18 h v etc. galerii.

Výstava představuje tvorbu Jana Rouska, režiséra a umělce, který se dlouhodobě věnuje reflexi kolonialismu v československé filmové historii. Prostřednictvím filmů, archivních materiálů a galerijní instalace otevírá otázky, jak se v rámci české vizuální kultury utvářely představy o Africe a jejím obyvatelstvu a jak se koloniální způsoby reprezentace promítají do současnosti. Výstava propojuje umělecký výzkum s kritickou reinterpretací filmového a fotografického archivu.
11. 9. od 18:00 pak proběhne Janova přednáška nahlížející československou kinematografii dekoloniální perspektivou.

You are warmly invited to the exhibition opening of Jan Rousek's IN AFRICA ON ANIMAL TRAILS*, which will take place on September 10 at 6:00 PM at etc. gallery.
Jan Rousek’s exhibition project examines the work of the Czechoslovak traveller, hunter, filmmaker, and trader Bedřich Machulka through a critical decolonial lens. Combining a contemporary artistic intervention with archival materials, the project raises questions about the Czechoslovak relationship to colonial heritage and the ways in which images and ideas of Africa were shaped within the domestic cultural context. Rousek’s work focuses on both cinematic and photographic representations and on the perspective of non-human actors—the animals that became part of Machulka’s hunting expeditions, trophies, and film recordings. The exhibition connects historical reflection with current debates on the decolonisation of cultural memory.
