As beloved in her personal life as she was respected in her career, Mary’s joyous engagement in living has influenced generations of her family, friends, and co-workers to embrace her example and work to make the world a better place for everyone.

"Why I finally wrote this book: In these later years of my life, some friends and colleagues have told me I should tell about my life and some things I helped to get accomplished. I’ve resisted doing that, but now, though I know my story is not going to change the world by itself, I’ve decided to tell it because it might help somebody else see that they can help change things for the better."
