Jamieson was born and raised in Webster, New York but has local ties to the community. His father, Jonathan Ritter was born and raised in Geneva. Jamieson’s paternal grandparents were James and Dorothy Ritter who were life-long residents of the City of Geneva.
His mother, Karen Bianchi, was born and raised in Waterloo. Jamieson’s grandparents were Angelo and Judy Bianchi and were residents of Waterloo. Much of Jamieson’s extended family on both maternal and paternal side remain locally in Geneva and Waterloo, and, therefore, Jamieson spent a lot of his childhood visiting these areas.
In 2020 Jamieson joined the Cleveland Police Department as Patrolman. As a Lieutenant in the Ohio Army National Guard, he deployed to Syria in 2022 as part of Operation Inherent Resolve. Jamieson was awarded the combat action badge for his performance of duties while being engaged in ground combat. In 2023 he returned to continue his service with the Cleveland Police department.
On July 4, 2024, Patrolman Jamieson R. Ritter was tragically murdered in the line of duty. He was 27 years old. Jamieson selflessly served his nation, his state and his community with unwavering commitment and bravery. His courage and dedication to protecting others were the driving force in his life, heartbreakingly cut short.
February 1 is Jamieson’s 28th birthday. It would be a great way to talk about him and honor him during this tragic time.
