In April 2025, after undergoing a hysterectomy, our dear friend Jamie Einertson learned she has Leiomyosarcoma (LMS), a rare and aggressive form of cancer. In July, further testing revealed the cancer had metastasized to her lungs. Jamie faced this head-on enduring chemotherapy and undergoing two lung resections. Through it all, she continued to show determination and strength.
Recently, Jamie began experiencing numbness in the fingers of her right hand. On January 9th, Jamie’s hand began moving involuntarily. Jamie asked her son to take her to Mayo in Rochester- a decision that likely saved her life. Jamie suffered a total of seven seizures with the last one leaving her without function on her right side and her gait severely affected. Doctors discovered a golf ball sized tumor in her brain. She underwent surgery to have the tumor removed on January 14th and then Gamma Knife surgery with high dose radiation to her brain January 28th. She is unable to drive for at least 3 months and is facing an intense road ahead, including physical therapy and the lung cancer.
Jamie is a devoted mother to two wonderful children, a fun-loving, gracious friend, and a constant source of support. Now it’s time to show Jamie she isn’t fighting this alone. While Jamie continues to have the courage to fight this, the financial burden of ongoing medical care, travel, and rehab is immense.
