Returning to Sunshine Festival 2026! The Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe invites the community to participate in “Hee-yah Nuss-ch-eye-yuh-chuh” (“Let’s Go My Friends”,) a S’Klallam social dance created to help youth learn the S’Klallam language through song and dance. This song focuses on how happy everyone is when they gather with each other’s communities. The social dance will take place on the asphalt between the two playgrounds in Carrie Blake Park at 1:30 P.M. and will be led by Jamestown S’Klallam Vice Chairwoman Loni Greninger. Social dances for tribes can express ceremonial joy or casual fun. “Let’s Go My Friends” is a casual song that motivates friends to do a partner dance together. The Tribe will have lead dancers to teach the dance moves and then invite everyone to do the dance together. It will be a great time!
The cultural permissions of this song belong to the three S’Klallam/Klallam Tribes (Lower Elwha, Jamestown, and Port Gamble). As song owners, these three Tribes can invite others from the community to sing and dance.
Jamestown is excited to invite others on this occasion to welcome the Spring Season through song and dance, and to help open the Sunshine Festival in this good way!
Note the new location for this year's Social Dance will be held at Carrie Blake Park.
