Jake Blount headlines an evening of powerful, roots-forward songwriting at Gallery Stage, joined by Megan Jean Byrne and Corduroy Brown.Jake Blount is an award-winning musician, scholar, and storyteller whose work draws deeply from Black folk traditions, old-time music, and the living history of American roots music. He is a recipient of the Steve Martin Banjo Prize, has been featured on NPR's Tiny Desk, and Newport Folk Festival. A Smithsonian Folkways recording artist, Jake is known for performances that are immersive, urgent, and expansive—connecting past and present through song.
Megan Jean's acoustic set brings a collection of songs that are rooted in stark folk, early country, and narrative songwriting. Known for her work with Megan Jean’s Secret Family, and Megan Jean and the KFB, Megan has performed on NPR's Mountain Stage, PBS's More Than the Music, The Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage She is currently completing her forthcoming solo record, Death Is an Old Friend. Joining her will be her lifelong creating and life partner Byrne Klay on banjo.
Opening the night is Corduroy Brown, whose acoustic songwriting has been featured in Rolling Stone in September of 2025. His warm, melodic, and inviting style sets the tone for an evening of close listening and shared space.
