Jailhouse Concert - Joshua Batten Band, Montana Sharp & Justin Yap
About this Event
Triple delight at the Jailhouse!
On Saturday 17 October 2026, the historic Kew Court House stage will come alive with a Jailhouse Concert lineup that promises rock-solid groove, swagger, and serious musical fireworks. This is one unmissable night built to thrill seasoned music lovers and curious newcomers alike.
Joshua Batten Band
The Joshua Batten Band brings a powerful blend of exceptional musicianship and heartfelt songwriting. Fronted by the magnetic Joshua Batten, whose impassioned vocals and accomplished guitar work command attention, this band delivers richly layered originals infused with introspection, grit, and hope. Backed by the unstoppable rhythm section of bassist, Terry, drummer Jeremy Li, and Allan Venn on keys, the Joshua Batten Band inject fire and finesse into every note, alongside reimagined rock classics that have stood the test of time.
“Joshua places his heart and soul into his performances.” — Greg Phillips, Australian Musician Magazine
Montana Sharp
Fresh from touring with Echoes of Pink Floyd, jazz-klezmer ensemble Fifth of Nisan, and major music theatre productions, Montana Sharp takes centre stage in a rare return to her songwriting roots. An eccentric art-pop alchemist, Montana fuses classical chord structures with daring modern pop to create a lush, cinematic live experience you won’t soon forget. Her debut EP, Blood Moon (2022), captures the raw beauty and uncertainty of early adulthood—shedding armour, asking the big questions, and leaning into vulnerability.
“With a classical background and a knack for being something of a musical chameleon, it’s undoubtedly always a good time when there is new music from Melbourne’s Montana Sharp on the way.” — Rolling Stone Australia
Justin Yap
Adding even more firepower to the night, we are honoured to welcome Justin Yap to the stage. Justin is a legendary guitarist and revered figure in the Melbourne blues scene. Known for his tight, electrifying sound and show-stopping festival appearances across Australia, Justin joins forces with Joshua Batten Band and Montana Sharp for a special collaboration that will deliver pure, old-school rock ’n’ roll magic.
Three distinctive artists. One iconic venue. A night of music you’ll be talking about long after the final chord rings out.
