JAD Experience Presents VISCERĀLIS

JAD Experience is pleased to present VISCERĀLIS, the latest installment of their unique event that immerses audiences in an experience for all the senses. 

Nestled on a bucolic hillside at Tara Firma Farms in Petaluma July 12–14 and 19–21 with sweeping views of surrounding hills VISCERĀLIS celebrates and provides a dose of Visceral Reality as a needed antidote for our current social dilemma of isolation in technology. 

Audiences are invited to partake in a transformative dining experience crafted from locally sourced regeneratively grown food and enjoy a unique open-air ballet from renowned choreographer and former San Francisco Ballet principal Julia Adam and her corps of elite dancers. 

JAD Experience is the evolving collaboration (and literal marriage) between Adam and her husband Aaron Lucich a producer farmer/rancher and agricultural activist. The two have cultivated a rich team of talented artists and artisans to create a transformational experience under the stars for their 11th season this July. 

The unique evening has always been firmly rooted in the soil and this year continues the tradition marking the group’s sixth year of residency at Tara Firma Farms. 

VISCERĀLIS explores the contrast of the current expansion of Virtual Reality & Artificial Intelligence with our basic need for Visceral Reality and Actual Intelligence through a tangible connection to our community and habitat. 

While the concept for JAD Experience wasn’t necessarily a direct reaction to our current social dilemma the impetus was prophetic. “My initial desire to move out of the constraints of the opera house the challenges of audience engagement and the sterile environment of the urban setting 11 years ago is now even more prevalent” said Adam. “Walking through the world on cement with screens in our hands losing our connection to the earth and each other confirms that what we do is needed now more than ever.” 

“So much of what has influenced our path—the food the agriculture the environmentalism—is driven by my intolerance with what we’ve been willing to accept as normal” added Lucich. “I fundamentally believe the further we get away from our connection to the soil the more isolated we become in a literal sense but also with regards to our gut microflora which ultimately dictates our physical and mental well-being. Who’s to say that disconnect isn’t what’s driving this obsession with technology?” Regardless the magical evening that is JAD Experience is a welcome antidote. 

VISCERĀLIS is the eleventh installment of JAD’s series that is designed to spark the wisdom of what ties us together through community art food and the natural world. Each evening starts with a multi-course farm-to-table feast served family-style utilizing transparently sourced food from the local bounty of Sonoma and Marin Counties. The project has evolved an in-situ approach to cuisine (Lucich produces the proteins on site) while a diverse talented team 

navigates the six-night nose-to-tail culinary adventure. The menu also includes robust alternatives for vegetarians and vegans. Local purveyors include Tara Firma Farms Umbel Roots Feed Sonoma True Grass Farms and Holistic Ag among others. Beverages include wines from Enkidu and Shokrian beers from Hen House and Moonlight and house-made non- alcoholic offerings. 

After dinner guests will gather with steaming cups of sipping chocolate and bone broth at the open-air stage for the world premiere of VISCERĀLIS. As always Julia’s ever-evolving team of dancers will interpret her unique brand of storytelling as it continues to morph with spoken word song and broad exploration beyond the fourth wall moving and inspiring a deeper connection to each other and the world around us. 

A limited number of tickets are now on sale for the six gatherings of VISCERĀLIS 

during the weekends of July 12–14 and July 19–21 from 5:30 pm – 10 pm at Tara Firma Farms in Petaluma.
