Jackero
Jackero is an old-time and folk project composed of sisters Ellie and Annie Davis. Growing up in Olympia, Washington, the two began fiddle lessons at the age of four and have been playing, singing, and performing together ever since. Rooted in Appalachian old-time music tradition, the duo explores the intersection of traditional music and original songwriting, bringing a fresh sound to old music through a combination of fiddle, banjo, guitar, and close vocal harmonies. Their band name comes from the traditional ballad often written as "Jack-A-Roe," famously performed by Jean Ritchie and Pete Seeger, and reflects their deep respect and reverence for traditional Appalachian music and its rich storytelling traditions. The pair's performances draw from a lifelong musical bond, creating a sound that feels both timeless and distinctly their own.
