Get ready to witness the incredible untold life, story and music of multi-platinum selling, 10-time GRAMMY® winner and global icon, Chaka Khan! With 25 chart-topping hits, 70 million records sold and a career spanning five decades, Chaka Khan has shaped the sound of generations. Now, her story explodes onto the stage in a dazzling world premiere musical.
Featuring music from an array of Chaka’s famous friends, including Joni Mitchell, Prince, Stevie Wonder and Robert Palmer, and the songs that made her a global icon including I Feel for You, Tell Me Something Good, Ain’t Nobody, Sweet Thing, Through The Fire and many more. This groundbreaking production delves into the woman behind the music – her rise to fame, her battles behind the spotlight, and her powerful journey of resilience.
Directed by Racky Plews, choreographed by Jade Hackett and written by Nia T. Hill, this is an emotionally charged theatrical experience. From the triumphs to the trials, from the anthems to activism, this is Chaka Khan like you’ve never seen her before.
📍 Venue Description: The Peacock Theatre often plays host to dance performances, conferences, ballet, pop concerts and award ceremonies. The stage is approximately 36 feet (11 m) by 33 feet (10 m).
The 999-seat house is owned by and comprises part of the London School of Economics and Political Science campus, who utilise the theatre for lectures, public talks, conferences, political speeches, and open days. The university has a long lease with Sadler's Wells with whom it has negotiated a deal to bring in commercial companies under the banner "Sadler's Wells in the West End".
### **The History Of The Peacock Theatre**
The present, smaller theatre was built and christened The Royalty Theatre in 1960, located on the basement level of an office building but was later bought by the London School of Economics and renamed The Peacock Theatre. The Rat Pack played at the theatre in 2002, and Doldrum Bay premièred here in 2003.
